The CAFAM (website) is a Museum in Los Angeles.
Official description from CAFAM:
At CAFAM we view the term “folk art” in a contemporary and dynamic light that is not limited to one frame. We consider all art made in a cultural and social context as part of our domain. Our stance encompasses a wide breadth of art and ideas ranging from Polynesian body tattoos that mark a tribe, whether traditional or urban, to the modern interpretation of ancient cave paintings from India that offer political commentary about a post-9/11 world, to a photojournalist’s observations of the complexity of contemporary Iranian society.
Wikipedia excerpt:
The Craft and Folk Art Museum (CAFAM), founded as the popular omelette café The Egg and The Eye, has been an energetic hub of global culture and progressive thought in Los Angeles, California since 1965. Located in the heart of Los Angeles’ Museum Row on Wilshire Boulevard, and across from the George C. Page Museum and La Brea Tar Pits, CAFAM presents 7–10 original exhibitions a year ranging from the local to the global; traditional to contemporary; ornate to utilitarian. With a mission of increasing cultural understanding through the universal lens of art, CAFAM’s exhibits and programs serve as a catalyst for the exploration of art and ideas that reflect an ever-changing world. The ethos of this unique museum is best summed up by their current tagline: CAFAM… because a shrinking world requires an EXPANDED mind.

We don't have any current exhibitions on file, most likely because we're still collecting listings.

In the meantime, check out the CAFAM homepage or our exhibitions list for L.A.-wide exhibits.

Note: This site is still in a alpha, unfinished form. The information for aGogh was almost entirely hand-gathered and so there may be errors and omissions. See an error? Contact us.
